According to the Health Implementation Communiqué published by the Social Security Institution (SGK), the lifespan of hearing aids is set at approximately five years. Therefore, government support is available for hearing aids every five years.
The government covers hearing aids for 1514 TL for retirees with a medical report and 1211 TL for employees per ear. Therefore, retirees with a medical report for both ears can purchase hearing aids for 3028 TL less than the regular price. Government support amounts vary for ages 0-18.
Co-payments are determined when the SGK pays for hearing aids. A 10% co-payment is deducted from retirees’ salaries when they purchase the device. Employees are required to pay a 20% co-payment directly to hearing centers upon purchase.
